Authorized Person Training
Course description:
This course offers an awareness of the issues involved with fall protection. A focus on the best practices in fall protection and the need to protect workers at height highlights this informative training course. Participants are introduced to the legislation governing fall protection as well as the components of a fall protection system including body support, anchorages, connectors and rescue.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will receive a certificate acknowledging they have met or exceeded OSHA, ANSI and CSA requirements as an Authorized Person.
Topics discussed:
- Authorized Person – A person approved or assigned by the employer to perform a specific type of duty or duties or to be at a specific location or locations at the jobsite.
- Local governing regulations relating to fall protection
- Traditional fall protection (e.g. Handrails, Guardrails, Full Body Harness, Lanyard, Self-Retracting Life Lines, Anchorage, Carabiners, etc.)
- Fall restraint systems
- Fall arrest systems (including anchors, body support, connecting components and the importance of a rescue plan).
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 CFR 1910 and 1926
- Governing Body
- Sets and enforces laws
- Issues Fines for negligence.
- American National Standard Institute (ANSI) Z359 series various dates
- Voluntary compliance board
- Sets guidelines for the manufacture of equipment

- Up to 20 per class
- Minimum 4 students
- Max 2 classes per day.
Duration: 0.5 days (up to 4 hours)
Recommended attendance: This course is designed for individuals working at height.
